More about Acupuncture at LMCA

What to Expect at Your First Treatment

For your first appointment, arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time, to for paperwork and evaluation.

There is a $10 initial visit fee for new patients.

  • Once you have checked in and paid for your appointment, you will get help finding a chair, then will be asked to remove your shoes and socks, roll up pant legs and sleeves and recline, to your comfort level.
  • After discussing what you would like treatment for, Andrea will place the acupuncture pins (sterile, single-use, disposable acupuncture needles) in points along your lower legs, feet, forearms, hands, scalp, and/ or ears, depending on what we are treating. These pins are very thin, filament-like needles made especially for comfortable placement in acupuncture.
  • You will be left to relax for 30 minutes to 1 hour, or more, depending on how long you want to stay. In the scheduler, appointments are booked in 15 minute intervals, but Your  treatment lasts from 30 to 60+ minutes.
  • Andrea will be checking in during your treatment, to see if anything needs to be adjusted, and remove the pins when you are ready to go.

On return visits, you can check in and pay, then settle in when your chair is ready, and wait for the acupuncturist. Please feel free to let Andrea know if you have a wake-up time, so she can be ready to remove your pins, so you can be on your way.

Your comfort and the comfort of all patients is important to us.

  • Please refrain from wearing strong scents/ perfumes. Please be sure to turn off your cell phone before entering the office, so that sounds/ vibrations don't disturb others' treatments.

The room is dimly lit, with an air purifier, and ambient music, to help you feel at ease and able to relax and unwind. There are also plenty of blankets, so you can stay cozy and warm while you rest and heal.

  • If you want your own blankets, ear plugs, or an eye pillow, feel free to bring them.
